To create these one-of-a-kind pieces, I
- Select the design and determine what colors I will use for each component.
- Condition black or white polymer clay and roll it to the correct thickness.
- Carefully select and add the texture to each component to provide interest and depth to the the finished piece.
- Cut each component, ensuring that it is as geometrical as possible.
- Hand color to each component; in some cases I create unique effects by mixing colors.
- Assemble the components.
- Cure the piece.
- Add the finding and cure the piece a second time.
- Finally, I add two coats of varnish to the front and back to seal it and add depth and shine to the color.
It takes a lot of time and attention to detail, but I think the results are worth it.
